What Makes A Story?

2024

What Makes A Story? combines the writings and Ted Talks by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Gretchen McCulloch, Aditya Mukerjee, Robert Waldinger and Zoë Ryan, all of which discuss the connections between culture, language, coding and their place in the world of design. Along with the five writings and transcribed Ted Talks, I included photographs, collages, pull quotes and my own annotations to further immerse the reader in the vast amount of information being shared in this handbound book.

To accompany the book, I created posters that could be displayed and used to provide information for if a reading festival was to take place, as well as serve as a book jacket for the book itself.

The Danger of a Single Story by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was a booklet I typeset and designed, taking Adichie’s Ted Talk and converting it into a readable piece. This booklet served as the starting point for what became What Makes a Story?
