Personal Space Bubble

2023

Personal Space Bubble was created to represent the disconnection I often feel to my surroundings, due to suppressing my autistic traits, or masking, as a way of feeling socially accepted. The room within a room, is meant to become a safe space, allowing me to unmask and decompress, but the more I stand there, the more I realize my inability to hide who I am. This installation is meant to provide people with a better understanding of how it feels to hide parts of one’s identity, and in return makes them more accepting of all different people.
